What to Do When Caught in an Electrical Storm

Yes, athletic therapists have to know about the most random things for their job. We're standing on the sidelines with the coaching staff in the pouring rain. The coaching staff is focused on athletes running plays while we're keeping an eye out for injuries but also on the environment (same for referees / umpires). We all work together to make sure the athletes can perform to the best of their abilities.

To be honest, all parties involved at any sporting event have all been mindful and cleared everyone off the field of play to a safe indoor area until it's safe to be outside. This video is here if you find yourself attending events where there is no indoor protection from the elements.

Dealing with Wet Shoes

If you've got back-to-back competition or training days, try this out to help keep your feet dry. My field hockey coach showed us this trick while we were at nationals one summer. We were impressed with how quickly it worked!
